TideWe Altus 2.0 Insulated Hunting Suit Review: Quality On A Budget

October 27, 2026

If you are looking for a quality insulated hunting suit that is both wind-resistant and quiet at a good price, I might have found a great option for you.

In this post, I review the TideWe Altus 2.0 Insulated Hunting Suit. This is a real review from a real hunter. I shot my buck this year while wearing this suit and the more I use it, the more I like it. I think this jacket and pants set performs above its price point and I highly recommend it for new hunters and experienced hunters alike.

This set is designed for close range deer hunting from ground blinds or tree stands, but I used it for more than that and I think you could too.

Also, TideWe gave me this 18% off discount code. GK18, that you can use at checkout for the Altus 2.0 Hunting Suit. This discount applies to most things on TideWe’s website and stacks on top of most sale prices.

First Impressions & Price Point

Now, I am actually quite impressed with this hunting suit. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, but I think this jacket and pants compares very favorably with more expensive gear on the market.

I looked it up just before posting this review, and if you take the current sale price with my 18% off discount, you can get it for about $140 to $148 depending on which color pattern you choose. That price includes both the jacket and the pants.

In my opinion, this suit competes with gear that costs two or three times as much, maybe even more. It has some really nice features and design choices that I really like. I am also a big fan of the camo pattern; I think it looks very cool and works in a variety of habitats.

Insulation & Field Performance

Now, number one: Is it warm?

Yes, I think it’s quite warm. It is insulated with:

  • 100 gsm of synthetic insulation in the body

  • 80 gsm in the sleeves

  • 60 gsm in the hood

That body mapped insulation is designed to give you a good range of movement while keeping your core warm.

I have hunted with this gear in the field—and shot a deer with it this season, and I am quite impressed with how well it performs.

Key Features & Build Quality

What are some of the specific features about this suit that I really like?

1. Smart Cuffs & Water-Resistant Seat

One of the things I noticed immediately is inside of the cuffs: there’s kind of a “cuff within a cuff” that puts a little bit of squeeze around your wrists. This keeps cold air from flowing up into your arms and robbing you of your body heat. I really like that feature.

I also really like the seat on the pants. It seems to have a reinforced, water-resistant layer to help keep your rear end dry if you’re sitting down on something wet, which is nice for multiple kinds of hunting and something I really wish I would have had years ago when I did more sitting on the ground.

2. Weather Resistance & Materials

  • Zippers & Shell: It features waterproof zippers, as well as zippers at the bottom of the legs. While the suit itself is wind-resistant and has a DWR (durable water repellent) finish, it is not a full rain suit by any means. However, I’d feel reasonably confident that if I got caught in some scattered rain I probably could keep right on hunting reasonably comfortably.

  • Lining: The inside feels really nice with a checkered lining.

  • 100% Synthetic: All of the insulation and materials are synthetic—there is no cotton in it. I’m not a fan of cotton in my hunting gear because it loses a measure of its insulative capabilities when wet. This is exactly the kind of material I like.

3. Noise Level & Durability

The feel of the outer fabric is nice and quiet, yet it maintains good wind resistance—you can feel that quality just by touching it.

In my experience, there’s always a trade-off between wind/water resistance and quietness (the more resistant to the elements a fabric is, the noisier it tends to be). TideWe hit a really nice balance here with the Altus 2.0 Hunting Suit: it’s both quieter and more wind-resistant than I was expecting.

It feels durable, too. I’ve dragged my deer out of the woods wearing the pants (I took the jacket off so I wouldn’t get too hot), and everything held up remarkably well compared even to some higher-end gear I’ve seen.

Fit, Layering, and Versatility

In terms of fit, I typically wear a large in just about everything. I got this suit in a Large and it fits me quite well—comfortable, with plenty of room for layers.

That brings me to maybe my favorite feature of this suit: its versatility.

  • Warmer Days: With just a thin base layer, you can hunt in milder temperatures.

  • Cooler Days: As it cools down, you can add a mid-layer.

  • Frigid Days: If it’s colder still, put on a thicker base layer with your warmest mid-layers.

This suit isn’t designed exclusively for the absolute coldest days of the year, and I actually prefer that. I have some hunting gear designed for extreme cold, but I find I very rarely use most of it. Because this suit adapts so well based on what you wear underneath, you can get a lot of use out of it across a large part of the season.

It’s also not limited to one style of hunting. I’ve worn this hunting waterfowl, I’ve worn it hunting deer, and I’ll likely wear it hunting other game if the conditions are right for it.

Pocket Layout & Hood

The pocket setup is well thought out across both pieces:

  • Jacket:

    • Two zippered fleece lined hand-warmer pockets

    • One zippered chest pocket

    • One magnetic-seal chest pocket (great for a call or extra ammo)

    • One internal zippered pocket

  • Pants:

    • Two zippered pockets in the front

    • One pocket in the back

How’s the hood?

Overall, I like it. It’s comfortable, offers a great field of view, and includes adjustments so you can tighten it down when the wind picks up.

Care & Included Accessories

Cleaning this suit is straightforward. I’ve run it through the washing machine and the dryer, and it didn’t seem to damage the finish at all. It came out nice and clean. This set of gear seams easy to care for.

The pants also come with suspender loops and a set of suspenders is included. After trying them out, I’ve actually grown quite fond of them! I’m usually more of a belt, but after using these, I’m pretty sure I’ll only use the suspenders with these pants—and I may start using suspenders more in general. The comfort and feel are great.

It also came with a neck gator that is a welcome bonus.

Final Verdict

I really wish I would have discovered a hunting suit like this when I first began hunting. I am a big fan of the Altus 2.0 Hunting Suit and I recommend you check it out. This is a nice set of gear for new hunters and experienced hunters alike.

The quality for the money is genuinely impressive. I’ve really become a fan of what TideWe has been putting out lately. It strikes a great balance between quality and price.
